Selecting Your Travian Tribe
One of the first important decisions you need to make before starting this awesome MMORPG is selecting what tribe you want to use in Travian. Your success and enjoyment level in this online game largely depends on what tribe you select. Personally we recommend using the Romans or Gauls for beginners as they are more beginner friendly. However, the Teutons should not be overlooked. They are actually very fun and challenging to use. Teutons are better suited for advanced players. Listed below is a summery of each tribe's strengths and weaknesses.
The Romans of Travian
- Very beginner-friendly and well-balanced
- Master builders
- Powerful infantry; Average cavalry
- Can simultaneously build resource fields while raising buildings
- Merchant Load: 500 units at 16 fields/hr
- Training is both costly and time-consuming
The Gauls of Travian
- Least violent of the 3 tribes
- Defensive strategy
- Speed bonus = fastest tribe among the three
- Moderate defense bonus
- Double cranny size
- Cheap settlers
- Merchant Load: 750 units at 24 fields/hr
- Expensive siege weapons
The Teutons of Travian
- More suited for experienced players
- Highly aggressive
- Pillage bonus = enemies can only conceal 2/3 of its crannies
- Small defense bonus as offered by earth wall
- Troops are trained both cheaply and quickly
- Merchant Load: 1000 units (highest in the game) at 12 fields/hr
- The slowest of the three tribes in Travian
Formulating Your Travian Game Plan
Now before you get started on your quest to take out every player in your path, just a few things to consider. Remember, Travian is a very slow paced game. It will take you anywhere between 2 weeks to even a few months before you get into the thick of things. In this time it is very important to remain patient. We can't stress this enough. The key is to think long-term strategy.
